Skid Mounted Sump & Pump Sets
Project Details:
Total Value: Approx. $1m
Year Completed: 2015
Duration: 2 years
Background:
Water used for cooling during drilling at the face of a copper mine in Zambia needed to be efficiently removed. As the mine expanded, a mobile pumping system was required to adapt to changing operational needs. The skid-mounted sump and pump sets were designed to be towed by a load haul dumper, enabling water from the mine face to be pumped into the sump and subsequently transferred to the surface once the sump was filled.
Description:
The skid sump has a capacity of 12 cubic meters and is designed to minimize material hang-up and reduce stagnant areas. The skid is equipped with two 75 kW pump sets operating in series, complemented by two additional 75 kW standby pump sets. The system delivers approximately 42 liters per second at a head of 140 meters.
